AWM 4M

Drawing & Painting, University/College Preparation

Course Description

This course focuses on enabling students to refine their use of the creative process when creating and
presenting two dimensional art works using a variety of traditional and emerging media and technologies.
Students will use the critical analysis process to deconstruct selected drawings and paintings and explore
connections between art and society. The studio program enables students to explore a range of materials,
processes, and techniques that can be applied in their own art production. This course is geared toward
building up student portfolios for February post-secondary art program applications and will therefore be offered in the fall semester only.

It is strongly recommended that students have AVI 4M. If not, then a portfolio interview will be
required.

* While every attempt is made to cover all the items listed, progression of units in the classroom are affected by many factors, which include the school schedule and each class's level of development and interest.
