Units 1-3: 70% Team Work

Unit 4: 20% Culminating Project

Exam: 10%

  1. "P" or Production will study Playwriting/Theatre Development from a technical theatre perspective.

  2. The Grade 12 level will continue to study similar units, but at an advanced level with new source materials and expectations. 

 

Playwriting/Theatre Development (ADP 30/3M/3P/4E/4M/P)

 

UNIT 1 - Introduction to Playwriting/Theatre Development

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • explore the history of theatre in various cultures

 

UNIT 2 - Play Study

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • read and anaylze a variety of plays from different cultures

  • understand how to approach, analyze and execute a scene from within a play.

  • understand interpretation, orchestration, pacing, character study analysis, and relationships within a scene.

 

UNIT 3 - Scene Writing for the Docudrama

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • further understand the construction of a scene with plot and character development

  • further understand "workshopping" a scene

  • further understand the concept of "writing is re-writing".

 

UNIT 4 - Play Production

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • Produce, direct and act in a series of scenes from different plays around the world.

 

ADDITIONAL I.S.P. UNIT

- Play Reports and Live Show Reports - (Literacy Component) 

  • The student will understand how to prepare an analysis of a play(s) that they will read.

  • The student will understand how to prepare an analysis of a play(s) that they will see.
