  LEARNING OUTCOMES BY COURSE/UNIT REGULAR PROGRAMME

GRADE 11 ACTING CLASS - ADC 3M

Units 1 - 2 = 70% Term work

Unit 6 = 20% Culminating Project

Exam = 10%

If circumstance arrive where it is impossible to complete one or both of the first 2 units, the percentages will be reversed and Unit 1 and 2 will be worth 30% and Unit 3 will be worth 70%

 

UNIT 1 - Monologues ( 35%)

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • understand how to analyze and break down a monologue(s) from a play into sections.

  • demonstrate how to organize and write down proper blocking notation

  • demonstrate how to organize and write down business notation.

  • demonstrate how to organize and write down character notes

  • prepare a proper character sketch

  • demonstrate proper use of voice and movement

  • demonstrate the ability to memorize a monologue(s)

  • understand how the use of warm-ups will benefit/support the voice/movement in the monologue.

 

UNIT 2 - Scene Study (35%)

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • understand the dynamics of pauses/beats/moments in orchestrating a scene

  • demonstrate the ability to work with a partner in developing a scene

  • demonstrate the ability to memorize a scene and learn to pick up cues

  • write a character sketch

  • write blocking, business and voice work into a script

 

UNIT 3 - Production Unit (Culminating Assignment worth 20%)* (See note at beginning of this course)

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • assume and develop a character(s) in a play

  • work through a rehearsal process in development of a play for public presentation.

  • demonstrate the ability to write blocking, business and character notes for a play

  • work through a technical rehearsal

  • work through a dress rehearsal

  • work through a production week with the possibility of student shows during class time and evening shows for the public. There is the possibility of touring productions and Festival productions. 

 

ADDITIONAL I.S.P. UNIT 

Play Reports and Live Show Reports - (Literacy Component)

  • The student will understand how to prepare an analysis of a play(s) that they will read.

  • The student will understand how to prepare an analysis of a play(s) that they will see.
