UNIT 1 - Voice and Movement through Monologues

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • understand the purpose of proper warm-ups.

  • understand how to approach, analyze and execute a monologue within a play.

  • understand orchestration using beats, pauses and vocal work.

  • understand how to block a monologue.

  • understand how to use proper notation in a script.

  • understand how to prepare a character sketch.

 

UNIT 2 - Scene Study

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • understand how to approach, analyze and execute a scene from within a play.

  • understand interpretation, orchestration, pacing, character study analysis, and relationships within a scene.

 

UNIT 3 - Scene Writing and presentation.

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • understand the construction of a scene with plot and character development

  • understand "workshopping" a scene

  • understand the concept of "writing is re-writing".

 

UNIT 4 - Anthologies*

By the end of the unit, I can:

  • understand the concept of an anthology as an artistic medium

  • understand the construction of an anthology, using previous units in the semester

 

ADDITIONAL I.S.P. UNIT

- Play Reports and Live Show Reports - (Literacy Component) 

  • The student will understand how to prepare an analysis of a play(s) that they will read.

  • The student will understand how to prepare an analysis of a play(s) that they will see.
