UNIT 1 - Group Process
By the end of the unit, I can demonstrate:

the differences between leaders, followers and distractors.

how to effectively follow instructions and work to deadlines.

self-awareness and the ability to work as a collective unit.

trust in working with others in a safe and supportive environment.

how to apply strategies for the improvement of the group process.

UNIT 2 - Lighting
By the end of the unit, I can demonstrate:

how to safely use lighting equipment

how to safely use ladders
-
an understanding of the differences in lighting instruments
-
how to use a lighting system
-
how to reflect upon what they have learned, in writing and orally.

an understanding of technical career paths in theatre.

the ability to critically analyze each unit through journal writing that meets the expectations for the EQAO.
UNIT 3 - Tableaux
By the end of the unit, I can demonstrate:

ability to use non-verbal techniques to communicate ideas and concepts to an audience.

an understanding of the use of tableaux as an effective dramatic technique.
-
an understanding of tableaux as a drama form and be able to apply its conventions (freeze, focus, face, balance, sightlines, levels and blocking).
-
ability to support the lessons learned in units 1 and 2, group process and lighting.

how to reflect upon what I have learned, in writing and orally.

demonstrate the ability to critically analyze each unit through journal writing that meets the expectations for the EQAO.
UNIT 4 - Movement to Music
By the end of the unit, I can demonstrate:

an understanding of movement to music in an abstract form as well as a story-line form.

body awareness as it relates to others in space and time.an understanding of movement to music as a drama form and be able to apply its conventions (high, medium. low; open, closeed; tempo)

ability to support the lessons learned in units 1,2 and 3: group process, lighting and tableaux.

UNIT 5 - Voice and Mask
By the end of the unit, I can demonstrate:

the importance of articulation, projection, vocal variety and memorization in theatre and every day life.

the use of mask to support a dramatic work

the ability to build a mask for a specific character from a source.

the ability to bring text to life through creative use of voice, mask and staging.
-
ability to support the lessons learned in units 1,2, 3 and 4: group process, lighting, tableaux and movement to music.

how to reflect upon what I have learned in writing and orally.

UNIT 6 - Culminating Assignment
By the end of the unit, I can demonstrate:

an understanding of all of the drama forms studied which include: group process, lighting, tableaux, movement to music, voice and mask.

the ability to create a script from a source (Greek Mythology), to plan, rehearse and present their production.

how to reflect upon what I have learned, in writing and orally.

the ability to critically analyze each unit through journal writing that meets the expectations for the EQAO.
ADDITIONAL CURRICULUM - ALTERNATE ASSIGNMENTS
Students who, for some reason, have missed completing portions of the curriculum will be offered the opportunity to complete alternate assignments.
